Convention Center Hotel (Marriott Grand) – 2002

The Convention Center Hotel complex includes a new tower constructed in 2002 adjoining the renovated Statler (later Gateway) Hotel (1917) and the Lennox Hotel (1929). The Lennox, at far right in the photo above, was the subject of an earlier conversion to apartments by Pantheon, during which the trompe l’oeil painting on the east side was added. Along with the Gateway and the Lennox, the politically-connected Webbe family owned the Mayfair Hotel (1925), visible at far left in the photo above. Today it is owned and operated separately from the Convention Center Hotel.
